The Requirements
To be a good fit for the Clinical Physician Director opportunity, you will have:
- A license to practice in California.
- Training in internal medicine, family practice, palliative care or similar would be helpful, but other backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
- A patient-centered approach and excellent bedside manner.
- A demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships.
- A strong work ethic.
- Familiarity with of the business side of physician practice along with a growth mindset would be a plus.
You also will need to be willing and able to spend 75% of your time in the field, at various care facilities.
The Role
You will provide primary care to patients in residential care, skilled nursing and acute care facilities, and less frequently in one of our offices. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and overseeing physician assistants (PAs) and nurse practitioners (NPs), supervising medical decision-making.
- Reviewing and signing off on PA and NP notes to ensure quality care decisions are made and that documentation aligns with compliance and billing guidelines.
- Visiting facilities regularly to (1) see patients and update notes, and (2) build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with facility leaders and staff.
In addition, you will have a work cell phone to help resolve customer service issues, and you'll have administrative responsibilities to help keep the business of the practice running smoothly.
You can expect to be out in the field four days a week (one or two facilities per day), seeing 15-25 patients each day. You’ll work with a scribe who will act as a personal secretary to keep you on top of your schedule and cases.
